This Colombian band previously released these songs as part of a split, and I really wish more bands would do this - release EPs or compilations of their split material. It's a great idea to spread the songs far and wide, especially with the limited nature of releases today. The Scum plays fairly unique-sounding death metal that relies on simpler compositions and solid songwriting. I can hear some Entombed and Incantation in their sound, but only hints - like I said, they're pretty unique-sounding. The guitar solos are special, and spectacularly played. The vocals are especially wild, with a powerful growl using a lot of mouth distortion, and a double-layered recording technique that makes them sound more powerful. These five songs are definitely worth the price of admission, and it serves as a decent introduction to the band's sound. I just might dig into their back catalog.
