I wasn't expecting to hear, from Romania, a band that sounds so South American! Vorus instantly reminded me of the early Brazilian greats in some ways, from Morbid Visions-era Sepultura, INRI-era Sarcofago, Mortuary (Mexico), Mystifier, and even Vulcano. They even have just a tiny bit of looseness in their performance that lends this particular feeling to it (in the same way old Sodom is a little loose), while still remaining a talented, well-recorded band. My only gripes: they could speed it up a bit, because I feel they shine when they do, and some of the riffs wander a bit before they pull it all back together and keep my interest.

Overall this is well played and nicely recorded death metal that clearly takes its influence from the old guard of the scene, from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. I even hear some old eastern European sounds in there, similar to some aspects of Imperator (Poland). They have the same sort of feel, not exactly the music itself being similar, but an attitude. I like this record, so I definitely want to hear more from this band. They seem to already have amassed a large discography, this being their 3rd full length since 2018 and 18th overall release with demos and singles factored in, so the hunt will begin as I track down more of their stuff. Excellent, ancient death metal here, so get out there and buy it.
