8/10 CRUSHED FUCKING SKULLS
Even though this doesn't have the buzzsaw HM-2 guitar sound, it's very much in the Scandinavian style. You can hear it in the riffs and rhythms. I also hear some influence from early Death, and that is most welcome. The vocals are huge and cavernous, echoing all over the recording, sounding like they were recorded in a cave. The riffs are simple, and the songwriting is reminiscent of the great 1990s bands, reminding me specifically of Grave. They do have a few more brutal moments more along the lines of brutal death metal, and this mixes well with the rest of their repertoire. I bought this immediately when I heard it because I liked the old-school feel and sound. There's no better recommendation than that!
