4/10 CRUSHED FUCKING SKULLS

Seventeen years after their first LP comes this follow-up album, and the band has changed a bit. It's not pure slam like the aforementioned debut, but there's still plenty of that in their sound. The production is ultra-polished, but that serves to make the album rather unremarkable, since it makes them sound like everyone else. I can't help but be bored by all the slam riffs in between the mildly technical parts. We've heard this a million times and this isn't any different than the multitude of bands already playing this style. The pure death metal parts, while sparse, are more enjoyable, and remind me quite a bit of Dying Fetus, being centered on groove. The vocals are Disgorge-style low gutturals that sound a lot like Matti Way at his finest. I just don't see where this offers us anything different or essential. It's just... there.
